Position Overview:

SRD Engineers is actively hiring for the position of Project Manager 1 or 2 /Civil Engineer 2 with Professional Engineer (PE) license and 5 + years of Post Registration Experience in Tampa, Florida. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of performing engineering analysis for transportation projects for the State of Florida.

As a Project Manager with SRD, you will have the opportunity for career growth and advancement. You will be responsible for designing and managing projects, including assignments for the Florida Department of Transportation and local municipalities throughout the state. Building strong relations with clients and staff, as well as maintaining high project standards and exceeding client expectations, will be key aspects of this role.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (Required)
  • Licensed Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) or ability to obtain within 1 year (Required)
  • Post Professional Registration Experience in excess of 5 year, pay will be commensurate with your level of experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the design of highway/roadway civil engineering transportation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of design manuals including FDOT Design Manual, FDOT Standard Plans, FDOT Standard Specifications, AASHTO A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
  • Working knowledge of 3D workspaces/corridor modeling
  • Some project management experience with various governmental agencies (FDOT, FTE, Cities and Counties) is a plus but not required.
  • FDOT design experience including RRR and major reconstruction on limited access facilities, rural/urban arterials, and bicycle/pedestrian facilities preferred
  • Working knowledge in MicroStation, Geopak, FDOT Connect, Open Roads, CADD, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License and authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.

SUE Tech 2/Experienced Utility Locator

SRD Engineers is currently seeking an experienced Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Technician 2 to assist with SUE Excavation operations for our Tampa location. The SUE Tech Level 2 works closely with the SUE Field Manager to complete utility identification, location and marking assignments in a safe and efficient manner. This position requires a self-starter with a positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to train and mentor others. Training and job-related certifications are provided to assist in career development. Qualified candidates must be able to work in a high demand environment on projects throughout the state, coordinate daily with management and perform field related activities.

  • Works with the SUE Field Manager and Crew in the field performing both designating and test hole tasks to expose and locate underground utilities.

  • Locate underground utilities using locating devices.
  • Able to perform physical labor (i.e., lift, squat, bend, scoop, dig trenches, standing for extended periods of time).
  • Assist in providing Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) setup, as well as all related safety and other field tasks.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work site environment for all crewmembers.
  • Assists the SUE Field Manager as needed with field activity logs and results, CADD support.
  • May lead a portion of the work as needed by specific project assignments.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • At least 2-3 years’ experience with SUE excavation.
  • Must have knowledge of operating vacuum excavation truck
  • Experience with SUE excavation equipment, data collectors & GPS
  • Should have basic computer skills and be able to learn and understand new software.
  • Must be willing and able to travel occasionally (if needed).
